“I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me” Philippians 4:13

The demands of life may be great, and the pressures seem to hard to handle. Expectations placed on you may seem impossible to rise to. Problems may loom large ahead and circumstances may be dire. You may be weak and feel unable to go on, but through Christ we can do all things. We will faint by the wayside when we trust in our own strength and wisdom. We will find ourselves unable to adequately handle the problems and cares of life if we depend on our own ability.

Praise God, we have a source of strength and power in Jesus. We need not walk alone, but Christ will walk with us giving us grace and help in our time of need. Through His power, and not our own, we can do all things. Although things change all around us and although our emotions and feelings change from day to day, the strength of Christ never changes.

The following incident was related by H. G. Bosch.

“Dan Crawford, the successor to David Livingston, carried a copy of the New Testament in the pocket of his jacket. At the time of his death someone found the following verses penned on the flyleaf of that well-worn Book:

     I cannot do it alone!
     The waves dash fast and high; the fog comes chill around,
     and the light goes out in the sky.
     But I know that we two shall win in the end -- Jesus and I.

     Coward and wayward and weak, I change with the changing sky;
     today so strong and brave, tomorrow too weak too fly.
     But He never gives up, so we two shall win -- Jesus and I!’”

Truly, we cannot make it alone and in our own strength. But thanks be to God which giveth us the strength and the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ. Look to Jesus and place yourself fully in His hands. Face the trials of today with a calm assurance and trust in knowing that you too can do all things through Christ.
