"When my father and my mother forsake
me, then the LORD will take me up." Psalm 27:10
There are
those in life toward whom we look for support and solace in the
troubles and adversities of life. Often this is a father or mother,
a spouse, a minister or a close friend. It is wonderful to have
people upon which to lean. There is security in knowing someone
loves us and cares enough about us to listen to our needs and share
a prayer or a tear with us.
Although
people can be a source of strength, people can also let us down.
Individuals have been devastated when their father or mother,
companion or spiritual mentor have failed to give the desired
support in a time of trial. If this circumstance befalls your path,
and the one upon whom you depended forsakes you, remember God.
God's love
and care for us is unending and perpetual, and He never tires of our
problems and heart-rending cry. If others let you down, the one who
is most able to sustain and help you will never forsake you. The
Lord will lift you up and endue you with grace, strength, and
courage if you will lift your heart to Him.
In time of
despair and discouragement due to loneliness and even the betrayal
of others, be not dismayed. The Lord will take you up.
