"O taste and see that
the Lord is good." Psalm 34:8
Once a man was selling
melons in the market, but business was too slow to turn a profit.
"Nice juicy melons, get your melons right here", he called, but
people passed his stall without more than a glance. His business
mind was turning and spying a ragged street urchin he called the boy
to him. "Son, I will give you a coin if you will sit here near my
stall and eat one of my melons."
The coin changed hands
and the boy sat down and began to eat in earnest. The salesman
resumed his calls to passersby. As the people looked down and saw
the boy devouring the melon with obvious relish, they began to stop
and make a purchase. Before long all the melons had been sold.
When spreading the Gospel
of Christ to the world, it is one thing to tell others of what
Christ wants to do in their hearts and lives, but entirely another
to "live it out" before them.
George Mueller told of a
girl who when asked who's preaching had brought her to Christ,
replied, "Nobody's preaching, it was Aunt Mary's practicing". Aunt
Mary was showing Christ to the world by her daily conduct. As a
result, those around her could not help but see how good God was and
wanted to have Him for themselves.
Let us taste of the Lord.
Not only will we see that He is good, but it may spark a
hunger in some other dying soul.
