“In the day when I cried thou answeredst me, and strengthenedst me with strength in my soul.” Psalm 138:3

What an assurance in the time of trial, when the night is at its darkest, to know that we can cry out to the Lord and that He will answer. We can call someone on the phone and it may ring and ring. But when we get desperate enough for God, He will answer us. Children of God, the Lord is near us and is aware of everything that is touching our lives. He knows the deepest burden of heart and the trial of faith.

When it seems we can’t go another step, when the doubts of the enemy assail us, let us lift our heart and soul to the Lord. Some may promote the gospel as something that will remove all desperation and tears. I freely confess that there are times that I have been desperate. My desperation was turned to God and He in His faithfulness heard my cry and answered me.

God ministers to us at the deepest level of our being. Others may minister to the outward man, but it is God and God alone who is able to strengtheneth our soul. He gives grace, power, courage, and faith to the desperate soul who leans hard on Him in time of trial.

Let us bring our burdens and weaknesses to the Lord in assurance. In turn, God will begin to minister to our burdened and troubled spirit. Hence, in our weakness, we can be renewed and divinely strengthened such that we can face the day with true peace and victory in Christ.
