“Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the
God of my salvation.” Habakkuk 3:18
Regardless of circumstances, battles, trials, and hardships, I will
rejoice in the Lord. To rejoice means to be glad, happy, delighted,
and full of joy. What a wonderful thing to be full of joy in the
midst of a dark world. Praise God.
The rejoicing of God’s children comes not because everything is
going well around us. The 17th verse in Habakkuk reads: “Although
the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines;
the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no
meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be
no heard in the stalls.” The prophet goes on to say “YET I will
rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation.”
Focus not on what is going wrong, what is failing, or what is
lacking; but rather focus on the God of your salvation. There is joy
and peace in Christ. When we feel overwhelmed with the troubles
around us, may our hearts and minds soar in gratitude and
thanksgiving to God. We have been redeemed, forgiven, and washed in
the blood of Jesus. Truly, we can rejoice and be glad in God.
When I compare my troubles with the victory and salvation that I
posses in the Lord, my soul is delighted. Let us not fall prey to
the bleak picture that the enemy paints. Let us not be discouraged
and downcast in our spirit. YET we can still rejoice today. A song
says “Count your blessings, name them one by one…” When we consider
the blessings of God, our hearts are filled with joy in the Lord.
“Lord we praise you today. We thank you for your love, your mercy,
and your longsuffering. We thank you for forgiving us from all of
our sins and enabling us to walk in newness of life. We thank you
for power over sin and the flesh. Thank you for the Holy Spirit and
His comfort and leadership. We rejoice in you Lord and we thank you
for the peace and joy that we have found in you. Lord, we do have
needs and requests that we hold before you, YET, we will rejoice in
you.”
