"...Stir
up your pure minds by way of remembrance." II Peter 3:1
Once again
we face the beginning of a new year. It is wonderful to look ahead
to new opportunities and blessings in our lives as we serve God. It
is with courage that we can go forward as we look in the past and
see how the hand of God has led and directed His children.
In Sunday
school this past Sunday, the teacher was inspired with the above
scripture. I was challenged and blessed by my mind and heart being
stirred by way of remembrance as we reflected on the goodness of God
over the past year.
What has
God done for you in the last 12 months? It is with confidence that I
know God has been faithful to all His children. God has healed
numerous afflictions and sicknesses. God has spared people's lives
who where close to passing over into eternity. God has given grace
to His saints when they were faced with adversity and temptation.
Jesus Christ has been in the fire with those who have been steadfast
in faith and doctrine. God has saved people from sin and the bondage
of it in the last 12 months. He has filled seeking people with the
power of His Holy Spirit. He has been a comfort to those in grief
and a friend to the lonely. The list goes on and on.
Take time
to reflect on what God has done for you. Consider what God has done
for others in your life. Let us lift our heads with courage and know
that although there are new battles ahead, God will continue to be
faithful. At the end of this year, we will be able to look back and
still say, 'God has been good to me this year.'
